Has the Champions League lost its Heart (Fm)

November 8, 2014

Hola. Hope you are well.

I decided to go to my local pub to watch Real Madrid v Liverpool. I got there a little before kick off, only to find it was really quiet with only one TV screen on and that was set to Heart Fm.

As the match was about to start I had to ask for another TV to be turned on. This was done but Heart Fm remained, so the first half was played to the soundtrack of modern pop tunes. That and 2 guys arguing about whether you should or shouldn’t wash chicken before cooking (feel free to join the debate via the comments button or on twitter @viewfromthetrev).

By the second half the chicken debaters had gone (Heart Fm remained) leaving me at this point as the only customer in the pub. I was therefore quite pleased when a man came in, only to realise he was dropping off a take away for the barmaid.

I couldn’t help thinking that when UEFA came up with the idea of the Champions League, they didn’t have this in mind.

Til next time, stay safe!
