Who’s done good business?

August 9, 2019

Despite £1.41bn being spent by Premier League clubs this transfer window, it seems like most fans are underwhelmed by their team’s business. With this in mind which PL club do you think has done good business? For me Aston Villa have brought in a fair few players and if Dean Smith can get them to gel they could do ok. (they’ll definitely go down now) Let me know your thoughts via the comments button or @viewfromthetrev Cheers

Any other neutrals supporting man city?

May 17, 2019

I have a friend who’s a crystal palace fan. He said he’s going to support man city in the FA Cup final. One of his reasons is because Harry the Hornet (the watford mascot) once mimicked Wilfried Zaha diving. It strikes me as an out there reason. It also strikes me that there won’t be many other neutrals who’ll be supporting city, are you one?

What a season.

April 15, 2019

This season Chelsea fans have been involved in

1) Racist abuse https://www.theguardian.com/…/chelsea-fans-banned-raheem-st…

2) Anti Semitic chanting https://www.theguardian.com/…/chelsea-uefa-no-punishment-an…

3) Sexual assault https://www.theguardian.com/…/police-chelsea-sexual-assault…

4) Islamophobic chanting https://www.theguardian.com/…/chelsea-fans-barred-bomber-ch…

And there’s still over a month left of the season.

Think of the payoff

February 24, 2018

I’m currently reading a book about football managers, Living on the Volcano by Michael Calvin. Each manager has their theories on the game, (philosophy if you’re Brendan Rodgers), ideas gained via their playing career or life lessons from their upbringing but one thing remains consistent, they all get sacked.

The criticism of Liverpool.

November 8, 2017

The criticism of Liverpool often goes something like this:

The goalkeepers aren’t good enough.
The full backs aren’t good enough.
The centre halves aren’t good enough.
There’s not enough creativity in central midfield.
They don’t have an out and out striker.

Klopp should be doing better than what he is.

Are you a tall Scot?

October 11, 2017

With Scotland’s failures to reach major tournaments down to genetics (they are too small in stature) should football have some sort of classification system like the Paralympics.

Or perhaps the Scots could engage in a breeding initiative with the Dutch ( a tall nation). Maybe Nicola Sturgeon should test this idea with the Scottish people, she may find it’s more popular than Independence.

Feel free to let me know if you are a tall Scot. You can contact me via the comments button or @viewfromthetrev.

An absent manager.

September 12, 2017

Rafa Benitez missed Newcastle’s win over Swansea whilst recovering from surgery. A manager missing a game is pretty rare but it does happen. Having said this I do remember Rafa missing a game as Liverpool manager after an operation for gallstones.

It does beg the question, which Premier League manager has missed the most games that their team were taking part in? I must confess I don’t have the answer. You can give your suggestions via the comments button or @viewfromthetrev

In solidarity with Frank.

September 11, 2017

I have a fair amount of sympathy for Frank de Boer, not only has he been sacked by Crystal Palace after 4 games, he’s likely to be replaced by Roy Hodgson. No one wants that on their CV.

I don’t know if Frank is married but if he is I hope his wife didn’t give up her job to join him in London or he might have had an awkward conversation earlier today.

In solidarity with Frank, when have you moved country for a job only for it to rapidly unravel? You can contact me via the comments button or @viewfromthetrev

Remainer

September 6, 2017

This transfer window was shaped by players that didn’t move as much as it was by those that did. I’m thinking of Coutinho, Van Djik, Costa, Sanchez. These players probably thought their actions (or inactions) would have got them a move away from their clubs.

With this in mind, when have you told people you were leaving your job only for you to remain?
