Wafford FC

August 22, 2017

I was looking at the stats for this blog and it appears that the most popular day came after I tweeted a link where I accidentally used #Waffordfc not #Watfordfc. Does this mean the key to online success is misspelling?

Financial Inducement.

August 16, 2017

My one year boy has just started taking his first tentative steps. He is however good at kicking a ball (both feet). He does go down a little easily although that might be seen as an advantage to some clubs. With this in mind I was wondering what’s the earliest age Premier League clubs offer parents a ‘financial inducement’ to join their academy. The sooner the better from my perspective.

More Harry the Hornet?

August 14, 2017

I was looking at the stats of my football blog (because analysis is the key to success) and the most popular post this year was to do with Harry the Hornet. Who knew this was what football fans wanted to read about??

Now my management team want me to write more stuff about Harry the Hornet. The only problem is I’ve more than exhausted my interest in Harry the Hornet. What to do?

Any advice will be gratefully received via the comments button or @viewfromthetrev

How do you hand in a transfer request?

August 12, 2017

Anyone know how to hand in a transfer request? I only ask after Philippe Coutinho sent his by email.
Firstly, email strikes me as being an old skool method of communication.
Secondly, who did he send it to? The owners? Klopp? or HR?
Did he cobble together a letter or are there templates for this kind of thing?

So many questions. Should you be able to answer any of them you can let me know via the comments button or @viewfromthetrev

What’s the 2nd best moment of the Premier League?

August 11, 2017

The Premier League is 25 yrs old. What to get the entity that has everything (apart from the best players in the world)?

If we agree that Aguer-oooooo was the greatest moment of the Premier League era, what is the second best? Ps. If you say Gerrard’s slip you’re a sick pervert.

Club vs Country

July 31, 2017

Congrats to England’s women who’ve got through to the semi-final of the Euros. If however someone could guarantee that they win the whole tournament but your club side would lose their opening 2 games of this upcoming season, would you take the deal?

Anyone excited?

June 10, 2017

Considering this Scotland v England game is a World Cup qualifier it seems really low-key. I don’t know if it’s because it feels like the football season has been over for a while. Or maybe it’s because the election has re-directed our attention, or likewise the two recent terrorist attacks. Or could it be that both teams are a bit rubbish.

I could of course be wrong and most people are really looking forward to this game. If that is you let me know via the comments button @viewfromthetrev

Sounding Out

June 8, 2017

Tapping up strikes me as quite an ugly word. I much prefer ‘sounding out’. I only mention this in light of Liverpool  issuing an apology to Southampton over an alleged illegal approach for Virgil van Dijk.

I imagine this kind of thing happens in most transfers. I equate it to getting your mate to find out if a girl/boy likes you. In the long run it saves time and potential embarrassment of having to chase people who have no interest in you.

Perhaps Southampton were just peeved that in recent seasons Liverpool have repeatedly bought their players. If this is the case then maybe it would be more advantageous for Liverpool to ‘sound out’ Southampton’s chief scout and miss out the middle man.

When football meets terrorism

June 7, 2017

On Saturday I went to my local pub to watch the Champions League Final with my mate. After the game we ended up chatting football to two random Spurs fans for 10-15 mins.

After we left the pub, we went our separate ways. I went back to my flat and directed my friend to London Bridge.

If we had left the pub straight after the game there’s a good chance my mate would have been caught up in the attack. Who knew that the conversation with these randoms would prove so important? Certainly not me and certainly not me at the time.

No offence to Take Me Out

June 2, 2017

I have a bone to pick with the FA.

If the FA Cup final had kicked off at 3pm I would have been able to watch it in peace as the other half and child had gone out for the day.

However with the kick off being 5:30pm, I ended up having to watch whilst making the baby’s dinner, feeding him, getting him out of his clothes for a bath and putting him to bed. This is not an ideal way to watch football.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think the FA Cup final should ever have to compete for viewers with Take Me Out (no offence to Take Me Out).
