A warm reception on a snowy day

January 21, 2013

Hola. Hope you are well.

After months of reading and hearing that Pep Guardiola would be going to Chelsea, or Man City, or Arsenal or even Man Utd, he ends up taking the Bayern Munich job. Having got it wrong on this occasion, these very same experts in the media are now saying he is using¬† Bayern as a stepping stone before taking over at Man Utd. Sometimes it’s wiser to say nothing, especially if you don’t know something.

One manager at the other end of the employment spectrum is Nigel Adkins who was sacked by Southampton. Many thought this was harsh but having thought about it Adkins had to go. If you’re the Southampton manager and your side only manage a 2-2 draw at the home of the European champions, a result that takes your side out of the relegation zone and up to 15th, then of course you’ve got to go. In fact if Nigel Adkins had anything about him he would have resigned straight after the game at Stamford Bridge and walked home.

Another manager on the move is Michael Appleton, who moved from Blackpool to Blackburn after spending 64 days at Blackpool. With this in mind, what’s the shortest period of time you’ve spent in a job before you’ve decided to move on (not sacked)? Feel free to contact me via the comments button.

Talking of Blackburn, the owners turned up for the game against Charlton on Sat and one of them even got hit by a snowball. Having watched the video it did strike me that if you go round calling people “F*cking Scum” you tend to look like erm….

And Finally… With Ronaldo once again finishing second to Messi for the Ballon d’Or and generally seen as being the second best player of his generation it made me wonder what amongst your circle are you good at but will never be the best at?

Til next time, stay safe!

Calling all scouse girls

January 10, 2013

Hola. Hope you are well.

As this is the first blog post of the year I feel I should wish you all a Happy New Year!

And as it is my first blog post for a while, I am going to catch up with some of the things that have happened in football.

Firstly, I’d like to do something I rarely do and that is thank Alex Ferguson. For many years know I have been saying that footballs could do severe damage to a footballer. In the past I’ve called for footballs to be banned from football but this has previously fallen on deaf ears. That was until the Manchester Utd manager had his eyes opened and realised the dangers of footballs when RVP almost died after having a ball hit him on the head. He didn’t die, in fact he got up straight away and started arguing with the Swansea players but if he had died the footballing world would have had blood on their hands. I’ve been trying to meet up with Mr Ferguson to see what our next move should be but he doesn’t seem to be returning my calls.

On to Marouane Fellaini, who claims he lives in Manchester not Liverpool because as he puts it, “In Liverpool the women were crawling for me. It was too much”. I’m not here to dispute Marouane but neither am I going to take him at face value, so if you are a Liverpudlian lady were you really desperate for a piece of the Fellaini? (feel free to contact me via the comments button)

And Finally… David Beckham apparently has 12 clubs after his services. This made me wonder when was the last time you felt sought after?¬† Feel free to let me know.

Til next time, stay safe!
